Broom.Cytisus are pruned immediately the blooms fade. Trim back the flowered stems by half using hedge shears. Do not cut back into the old woody stems as this can cause Premature death of the plant. Prune Cytisus every year. This prevents them becoming overly tall and bare at the base.
